His Excellency Amadou Toumani Toure, the President of the Republic of Mali on Friday 11 September received in audience Shelter- Afrique delegation led by its Managing Director, Mr. Alassane BA.
The Managing Director of Shelter-Afrique, who was in Bamako to share Mali’s experience in social housing, praised the proactive policy of President Toure in the key area of social and economic development and in promoting the well being of Malians, particularly through access to decent and affordable housing.
Mr. Ba informed His Excellency that Shelter Afrique has provided financing to private developers in Mali engaged in the social housing programme under the public private partnership and assured the Head of State of Shelter Afrique’s continued support in terms of expertise and resources to improve housing delivery and affordability and to strengthen Public – Private partnership in the sector.
The delegation also held various meetings with Madame Gakou Salimata Fofana, Minister of Housing, Land Affairs and Planning, Mr. Mamadou Konate, 1st Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic, Mr. Mamadou Traore, Diplomatic Adviser to the Head of State, Mr Mohamed Traore, Technical Adviser at the General Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic, Mohamed Ben Labat, Ambassador of Mali in Saudi Arabia and Mr. Yacouba Diallo, Managing Director of Agence de Cession Immobilière (ACI). Shelter Afrique is currently co-financing a middle income housing project with ACI in Bamako. Shelter Afrique is ready to finance more projects in Mali, one of its major shareholders in Shelter Afrique.
